Encounters) How to approach local communities
2010/07/27
We came to Okinawa, and today, we talked with future leaders for
conservation.
Participants were from Myanmar, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Egypt,
Mexico, Swiss and Japan.
We prepared a final program while taking breakfast.
The central question was how to approach local communities, and we
answered that there is no shorcut for that, but please realize that you
are a local person yourself, and be a humble student receiving wisdom from
local people.
You are handicapped to be an elite in your society, and if you put
yourself in the middle rank in your society, you can know only what is
going on among people who are higher in rank than yours. Place yourself
in the downmost part of it.
